The new Administration Building Phase II for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona completes a two-building, 170,000 SF headquarters complex for the health insurance company. The two four-story buildings, both designed by Orcutt | Winslow, are forty feet apart, and are mirror images of each other, with bands of gleaming white synthetic stucco separated by horizontal ribbons of dark blue-black reflective mirror glass.
Connecting the two buildings at the ground level is a one-story conference center with meeting rooms, reception and lobby space. The outdoor spaces between the two administrative buildings have been designed as relaxing courtyards for the lunchtime crowd. Both buildings contain low emissivity, highly insulated glass; energy management systems; fiber optics communications; state-of-the-art modular workstation furniture and an interior palette of warm neutral colors and finishes.
