Orcutt | Winslow recently completed Agua Fria High School District’s fourth high school in the master planned community of Verrado. The 220,000 SF high school will fit seamlessly into the “main street” character of the development. Not only is its setting unique, but also the school’s curriculum delivery strategy is innovative. This strategy will foster partnerships for a balanced, project-based, real-world learning environment. The philosophy of the design is based on a real-world curriculum, which will be student centered and allow education to take place outside of the traditional subject/instructor model. A non-departmentalized curriculum will invite personalized learning through a non-threatening vertically integrated house concept.
Another focus of the design is sustainability. Inherent in Orcutt | Winslow’s design philosophy, this approach intuitively addresses issues of equity, energy-efficiency, and healthy indoor-outdoor learning environments.
