Dreamcatcher Park Master Plan

Dreamcatcher Park Master Plan

The DreamCatcher Park project was in collaboration with the City of Surprise Community and Recreation Services Department. The project was supported and partially funded by The Sundancers, an organization that provides volunteer and charity fund-raising services for the City through Mark’s department.

In December 2002, programming and conceptual design were completed with a vision to create a multi-purpose outdoor recreational facility, featuring a stadium for children with disabilities on a site near the Surprise spring training facilities. In January, 2003, the Orcutt | Winslow team worked with department director and his staff on the first concept for a stadium to seat 1,000, a synthetic turf baseball/soccer field and 400 meter track. A plan and 3D conceptual sketch was then designed and presented to the director and Sundancers organization members. Additional three-dimensional marketing materials were created for the Sundancers, including a fly-over. Over the next few months the project site and project scope was modified in order to react to major adjacent planning on the adjacent site.

We then contracted with CMX to complete the building, grandstands design as part of their project. Over the next three months, we coordinated with Community & Recreation Services and CMX to complete the Schematic and Design Development for the project. From January through August 2006, we worked with CMX to complete the Contract Documents, to incorporate the shade structures over the stadium seating areas submit and to modify the drawings for City Permit. The final project consisted of a stadium with 240 Seats (expandable to 380), accessible restrooms, concessions and storage building with covered entry and shade structures, and a synthetic turfed baseball field with all fencing and backstops.
