Abraham Lincoln Traditional School
Welcoming and Functional Gateway to the Campus
With 32 schools in the district and serving 24,000 kids, Washington Elementary School District those 32 campuses have all been aging. In 2016, voters approved a $98 million bond to fund necessary improvements and enhancements for safety, security, building, and technology. Part of that bond was the Administration remodel and addition to the Abraham Lincoln Traditional School. Before the redesign, students and staff found themselves with a dysfunctional and un safe campus. Students in some cases needed to walk close to the outside around administration to get to the cafeteria. With this redesign, architects looked at the flow and created a secure campus with providing access to the cafeteria through admin, and also created a direct path for visitors, parents, and students. Expanding and renovating the existing administration gave Abraham Lincoln Elementary a welcoming and functional gateway to the campus.
