Kentucky State Veteran Home
State-of-the-Art Care
Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs needed a new facility to bring the best care possible to Kentucky’s growing veteran population. Their commitment was shared to the architects of providing long-term care facilities for Kentucky's veterans, offering a broad range of versatile nursing care while being state-of-the-art. Architects at Orcutt | Winslow responded to that with a new 135,000 SF skilled nursing facility, located on 110 acres in Radcliff, KY, that consists of four 27,500 SF single-story patient buildings or "neighborhoods” each comprising three "households" of ten patients each. These households and neighborhoods give residents a more homelike feel. The households are comprised of living, dining activity, country kitchens and other ancillary spaces. The campus also incorporates a single-story administration and commons building that houses the main commercial kitchen, great room, cafe, gift shop and administration. Opening in 2016, the Kentucky State Veteran Home will live up to its promise of being a state-of-the-art wellness facility, and will provide the best long term care possible.
