Mike Kolejka, AIA, LEED-AP

Mike’s grandmother lived in the Czech Republic and spent her final days within a communist-era building that could have been deemed as an incredibly inhospitable environment to live in. Mike vowed at age 11 that he wanted to do something to improve the lives of the elderly and create spaces for them not to just live in, but to celebrate all of the moments of their lives.

The Beatitudes Campus of Care project marked a point in Mike’s life when a resident told him that his work probably added 10 more years to her life. “It’s stories like that,” Mike says, “which makes the work I do worth all the time spent.” Mike loves the people he works with and the aspects of design that bring people together from all walks of life to create something so impactful.
