Texas State Veterans Home

The Texas State Veteran Home – Houston is comprised of a single-story central administrative and support building (community center) surrounded by four single-story residential buildings (neighborhoods) all set in a park-like campus. The campus access is focused on a main entry accessed from Preston Street providing a visual experience of the facility at the center of the site.  Each neighborhood consists of 30 private resident rooms divided into three 10-resident households. Each household has its own kitchen, dining/activity room, living/reading room and staff support areas. These household common areas are placed in the center of each household such that all resident rooms open off from it. The kitchen and dining area serves as the heart of each household.
