Learning From Alternate Industry Disruption

As educators, it is your opportunity to prepare students for jobs that do not exist, eventually using technologies that have not been invented, to solve challenges we do not even know are challenges today. What better context to incubate new thoughts and directions than in a vibrant 21st Century University? It is our opportunity to provide you with the context that is flexible, adaptable, and appropriate for educators and learners alike. Our approach in early programming to explore the larger pedagogical opportunities effecting the configuration of the learning environment. Our society provides clear examples of the rapid movement to this end that have correlations to design in the built environment.

  • Filling The Gaps:

Uber has changed the way you can hail a driver, track a driver and develop a relationship (with your driver). Pressing a single button sends out a message to nearby drivers asking who wants the fare. Many of your students have this app on their smart phone. Is there yet a peer solution in the educational community that can so seamlessly connect needs and opportunities?

  • Instant Engagement:

If Instagram wasn’t quick enough for you, then TikTok and Snapchat are the new choices for modern engagement. Communication and engagement apps are the quickest to gain popularity and information, culture and digitally hungry social millennials and Gen Z’s demand a new form. Can educators leverage this cultural curiosity toward instant micro connections?

  • Innovation and Engagement that is Cost Effective:

IndiGo pulls this off by balancing a cool factor with innovations meant to cut costs while also pleasing customers. It has stepless ramps to cut down boarding times and a pit-stop approach to aircraft cleaning to slash turnaround times. Last year, it brought in pioneering measures such as 48-hour advance check-ins at no extra charge, dedicated stair lifts for passengers with special needs, and options for fliers to donate toward reducing the carbon footprint.
