Traditional School Makes a Big Impact on its Community

Verrado Heritage Elementary School

Buckeye, AZ

Verrado Heritage Elementary School is an 84,000 SF new campus featuring a unique site, having 360 degrees of visibility to the surrounding neighborhood. When designing this school, utmost consideration was given to respecting the scale and aesthetic of the community it serves. To capture the essence and history of the area, the architectural team seamlessly integrated masonry details and embraced the existing Art Deco style. The result is a campus that harmoniously blends with its surroundings, enhancing the neighborhood’s character.

Notable features of the school include a shared parking lot and a well-organized central drop-off area for the convenience and safety of students and parents. Inside, the gym boasts stained concrete floors, adding an artistic touch to the functional space. Moreover, the design thoughtfully centralized the bathrooms while providing individual sections for Pre-K access and the rest of the school, ensuring practicality and privacy. Safety measures were put in place at restrooms where sinks were made visible to outside. At the heart of the school lies a central amphitheater, thoughtfully shaped to follow the natural slope of the mountain upon which the school is built. This amphitheater serves as a vibrant focal point for gatherings and outdoor events.
