Assisted Living

Safety and Comfort In An Environment That

Feels Like Home

When an older adult cannot live safely or comfortably in their own home any longer, many times Assisted Living is an option for consideration. Some seniors may be able to move in with family or friends, while others need more assistance than family members can provide. Prospective Assisted Living (AL) residents typically need assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, laundry, dining, taking medication and physical and education activities. An Assisted Living community provides some or all of the long-term care services an older person needs. Some of our projects offer only housing and housekeeping, but many also provide personal care, social and recreational activities, meals, and medical services. Some communities offer special programs for people with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

Environments Providing Support and Respite for Seniors and Caregivers

Orcutt | Winslow’s design philosophy related to Assisted Living is to provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment where seniors who need greater care than Independent Living (IL) communities offer can thrive and live life to the fullest. Our attention to detail in our designs covers everything from the physical layout of AL units, wayfinding to the common amenities and connectivity to outdoors and related activities. We put ourselves in the shoes of our residents and ask ourselves, “What would I want if I lived here?” Similarly, our focus also extends those who work and care for AL residents in our communities. Providing staff with areas of respite, support spaces and connectivity to outdoor areas is key to ensuring that they thrive in their work and provide AL residents with the best care possible.
